Jay Young
Jay Young has lived in this area since 1948. He graduated from the Rehoboth High School in 1953. Following his graduation, he worked for a large feed manufacturer and chicken growing company in Millsboro from 1953 to 1958.
Then he started a home heating oil business in Milford, which he ran until 1965..
He moved the business to Dover in 1965 – he continued home heating oil and added a gasoline distributorship for a major oil company. Young employed 32 people and operated 22 convenience store outlets with gasoline. He was named to the board of directors of a large independent oil company in Pennsylvania with eight truck stops across Interstate 80, plus several heating oil businesses in small towns in Pennsylvania. Sales under his leadership topped $200,000,000.
1983-1998 From 1983 through 1998, Young operated a 24-hour truck stop in Middletown, employing 32 people. He became a race gasoline marketer for Union 76, responsible for the territory from Virginia to Maine.
During 1965-2005, he was associated with Union Oil Co. of California (76) in their contractual supply agreement with the NASCAR program. I was responsible for hiring, co-coordinating travel arrangements, payroll, expenses, product control, product inventory, and safety for 22 crew members at 22 race tracks in the Northeast. In 1998, he was given the responsibility to train other race represenitives and crew members in the Midwest and Western part of the country in addition to the other 22 race tracks in the Northeast.
Young bring his vast experience with management and sales to Prudential Gallo, REALTORS®, which he joined in 2006.
